Google is widely releasing a fresh visual update for its popular music streaming application, YouTube Music. The long-awaited visual overhaul completely changes the main playback screen on both Android and Apple devices. This new layout introduces a clean split-screen view that makes organizing your listening queue much simpler.
If you stream tracks daily, you will definitely need to learn exactly where some common buttons are.

Swipe up to reveal your upcoming music queue instantly
The biggest visual tweak lands right at the bottom of your screen. The old layout used this space for lyrics and related content. Now, the bottom area focuses entirely on your upcoming track list. You can simply swipe up anywhere on the player to pull this queue into a convenient half-screen view. Swiping up a second time brings the list into full-screen mode.
The application also changed how you switch between audio and video modes. The top toggle is used to display text, but it now relies entirely on small icons. Below that, the album cover art looks slightly larger. The track progress bar is also thicker. The line expands further when you tap or drag your finger across it to skip ahead.
The lyrics button sits next to the thumbs-up icon
Because the queue took over the bottom section, developers had to relocate several familiar features. You can now find the lyrics button sitting right next to the thumbs up and thumbs down controls. If you want to find similar artists or recommended playlists, you have to tap the song title and hit the arrow icon next to it.
This update reaches users as a server-side change for version 9.14 on Android and version 9.15 on Apple phones. You might not see the fresh interface immediately. To trigger the new look, try clearing your current playing queue and forcing the application to close and restart.
