Having worked (and still do) as an art director over the past 20 years, this scenario, if true, reminds me of those clients that at some point feel the need to ‘help out’ creatively. While it’s not an uncommon thing these days, it can be a maddening, frustrating time with some people, resulting in unnecessary compromises that can lead to an unsatisfying conclusion for both parties – regardless of who’s paying the bill.

I’m sure the exec team at Apple are excited and anxious about their foray into original programming. This is new territory and will be a critical launch for Apple. Yes, they’re paying the bill, but unless Tim Cook and Eddy Cue happen know more about creating original TV content audiences are looking for, they really need to trust the experienced teams of heavy hitters they’ve hired to deliver, rather than piss them off.
