Apple Intelligence in iOS 27 supports 16 languages, according to Apple’s iOS 27 page: English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Danish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. The list applies from Monday, September 14, when the free update ships.
Siri AI, the conversational assistant that headlines the release, runs a shorter list. It launches in beta in English only, and Apple says French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish follow in October. That leaves nine Apple Intelligence languages with no Siri AI date. Here is how the two lists line up, and what else decides whether the features appear.
All 15 Apple Intelligence languages and Siri AI status
Apple’s press release says Apple Intelligence is available on September 14 for users with an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language. The table pairs each language with what Apple has said about Siri AI.

What Siri AI adds in October
The October update is not a new feature set, it is the same Siri AI beta reaching more users. Apple’s Siri AI announcement describes personal context across Messages, Mail and Photos, on-screen awareness, web access, in-app actions, a dedicated Siri app with iCloud-synced history, multi-turn follow-ups and Siri mode in Camera. A French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Spanish speaker gets that in October rather than on September 14.
Until then, a phone set to one of those five languages still gets the rest of Apple Intelligence on September 14, including Image Playground with photorealistic images and the Writing Tools. Our iOS 27 release date guide has the update timing.
Language is not the only gate
- Hardware: full Apple Intelligence needs iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max or iPhone 16 and later. iOS 27 itself runs on iPhone 11 and later.
- Region: Apple has said Siri AI is not available on iPhone in the European Union under the Digital Markets Act, with no timeline, even for supported languages. In China, new Apple Intelligence features are pending regulatory approval.
- Beta status: Siri AI carries a beta label in every language, and Apple has not said when it comes off.
- Processing: Apple Intelligence runs on-device and with Private Cloud Compute, per Apple’s press release, and language support applies to both.
The iPhone 18 Pro ships September 18 with iOS 27 and the full 15-language list; the iPhone Duo arrives in October with iOS 27.1 and, Apple’s Duo pages say, Apple Intelligence in 16 languages. AirPods 5 add Live Translation and hands-free Siri AI, but Apple has not said which languages that pairing covers.
How to check your iPhone is set to a supported language
These steps follow Apple’s published description of iOS 27. The exact button names and menu positions may shift when iOS 27 ships on September 14, so treat them as a guide rather than a script.
- Open Settings, General, Language and Region.
- Confirm the first entry under Preferred Languages is one of the 15. Apple Intelligence follows the primary language.
- For the Siri AI beta on September 14, set the language to English. Switch to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese or Spanish once Apple ships the October update.
- Open Settings, Apple Intelligence and Siri and confirm Apple Intelligence is on. Allow time for any on-device model download.
- If the features still do not appear, check the region and the hardware list above before assuming the language is the problem.
Apple has not stated a release hour for iOS 27; it usually ships iOS updates around 10 a.m. Pacific. The event recap covers everything else Apple announced alongside the update.
