The iPhone 18 Pro weighs 211 grams (7.44 ounces) and measures 71.9 by 150.0 by 8.75 mm. The iPhone 18 Pro Max weighs 249 grams (8.78 ounces) and measures 78.0 by 163.4 by 8.75 mm. Those figures come from Apple’s tech specs page, which went live after the keynote; the press release did not include them.
The gap between the two is 38 grams, 6.1 mm of width and 13.4 mm of height, with the thickness identical. Both phones are the same 8.75 mm thick, so the Pro Max is not a thicker phone, only a wider and taller one. The extra 38 grams is what you pay for the larger display and the larger battery that Apple rates at up to 45 hours of video playback, versus 36 hours on the smaller model.

What the phones are made of
Apple’s tech specs describe an aluminum unibody with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back. Apple’s press release adds that the enclosure uses 85 percent recycled aluminum and that the phone as a whole contains 40 percent recycled content.
The design carries over from the iPhone 17 Pro generation with a new rear finish, according to Apple’s announcement. Apple’s tech specs page for the iPhone 18 Pro does not list last year’s dimensions or weight, so we are not quoting a year-on-year change here.

How the weight compares within the Apple lineup
The 38-gram difference between the two Pro models is the only weight comparison Apple’s published pages allow at the moment. Apple has not published a weight for the iPhone Duo, and the iPhone 17 Pro figures are not repeated on the new specs page.
In ounces, the split is 7.44 versus 8.78, a difference of about 1.34 ounces. Apple’s spec page lists both metric and imperial figures, and the ounce values are Apple’s own rounding rather than a conversion we made.
Does the size affect anything else?
Not the cameras or the chip. Both phones have the same three 48MP Fusion rear cameras, the same 18MP front camera and the same A20 Pro, per Apple’s tech specs. The display resolution differs (2622 by 1206 on the Pro, 2868 by 1320 on the Pro Max) but pixel density is 460 ppi on both.
Battery is the main spec that scales with the body. Apple rates the Pro at up to 24 hours of typical use and the Pro Max at up to 30 hours, figures we unpack in our iPhone 18 Pro battery explainer.
Case fit will differ too. Apple’s announcement lists an updated Clear Case, a silicone case, a FineWoven case and a wrist strap, each sold in size-specific versions. Pricing for the 256GB models starts at $1,199 for the Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max, with pre-orders on Saturday, September 12 and availability on Friday, September 18.
