M1 Technology

Beta versions of Adobe software Premiere Pro, Premiere Rush, and Audition are now available for M1 Macs.

Adobe is taking a “phased approach” to gradually add M1 support to Premiere Rush as it has a large codebase. It includes the core editing functions and support for the most widely used codecs: H.264, HEVC, and ProRes. Premiere Pro Beta incorporates the latest builds of Adobe’s new captions workflow, which requires a project file format upgrade.

The Premiere Rush beta includes core editing functions, support for H.264 video, the ability to add titles and audio from Rush’s built-in libraries, and will allow users the ability to create projects and export locally on Apple M1 devices.

The Audition beta already shows performance gains for many audio effects. Other improvements include real-time performance for the Spectral Frequency Editor. It incorporates most of the existing audio editing features but does not yet have support for video playback, extension panels, or some third-party formats and integrations.
