Discover Ends Apple Pay Rewards and Connected Account Support

Discover Apple Pay

Discover is modifying how its credit cards interact with the Apple Wallet ecosystem. Starting on June 4, the financial institution will officially discontinue two prominent integrations within Apple Pay. Cardholders will lose the ability to apply rewards points directly to checkout balances and will no longer see account details synced through the Connected Account feature. The company recently notified customers about the upcoming changes via email.

Core payment functions continue while specialized tools retire

The basic payment experience remains unchanged despite these removals. Discover emphasized that its cards will still function normally for regular purchases both online and at physical retail terminals. The automatic cancellation of these specific integrations will not impact other aspects of customer agreements.

Cardholders seeking to check their balances or view recent transactions must now use the official mobile app or visit the company website. The decision comes less than three years after Discover became the initial United States partner for the Connected Account rollout during the iOS 17.1 release.

Customers do not need to take any manual steps to disconnect their profiles before the June deadline.
