What Wall Street expects from Apple

Analysts expect Apple to report one of its strongest June-quarter growth rates in several years. Current estimates point to revenue of around $108.7 billion to $109 billion, representing year-over-year growth of roughly 15% to 16%.

Earnings per share are expected to reach approximately $1.89, compared with $1.57 in the same quarter last year. iPhone revenue could rise by around 21% to between $53 billion and $54 billion.

What could move Apple stock after earnings?

Apple stock will respond to more than the headline revenue and profit figures. Investors will closely examine the following areas:

  • iPhone performance: Strong iPhone revenue can support the stock, especially if demand remains healthy across the United States, China, and other major markets.
  • Services growth: App Store sales, iCloud, AppleCare, advertising, payments, and subscriptions provide recurring revenue with higher margins than most hardware products.
  • Gross margin: Rising memory, processor, and manufacturing costs can pressure profitability even when revenue grows.
  • Greater China revenue: Investors want evidence that Apple can maintain momentum while competing with Huawei and other local smartphone brands.
  • September-quarter guidance: Management’s comments about the next iPhone cycle, supply availability, pricing, and customer demand can influence the stock more than the June-quarter results.
  • Artificial intelligence plans: Analysts will listen for details about Apple Intelligence, Siri improvements, AI partnerships, and the company’s spending strategy.
  • Share repurchases: Continued buybacks can support earnings per share and show that Apple remains confident about its cash generation.

Guidance could decide the market reaction

Apple can beat quarterly expectations and still see its stock fall when management provides cautious guidance. Investors will therefore focus on expected September-quarter revenue growth, gross margin, operating expenses, and supply constraints.

Comments about future iPhone pricing will also matter. Apple has kept iPhone prices relatively stable despite higher component costs, helping demand, but price increases could affect future upgrade activity.

A strong report combined with confident guidance would support Apple shares. However, weaker margins, slowing Services growth, soft China sales, or cautious comments about the next iPhone cycle could create pressure during after-hours trading.
