When you unfold a device with a massive screen, you naturally want your downloaded software to take full advantage of that extra space. The developers behind the popular video calling app Zoom just rolled out a fresh update that makes it look great on Apple‘s latest hardware. Along with Zoom, several major Microsoft productivity tools are now optimized to fill up the large display on the new folding iPhone.
Unoptimized software leaves blank borders on the inner display
Over the weekend, developers pushed out an update for Zoom that scales the app perfectly for the iPhone Duo. Instead of sitting awkwardly in the middle of the screen, the video app now makes proper use of the folding canvas. You no longer have to squint at a tiny window when hopping on a team call.
Today, a handful of office staples followed suit. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote all received updates to properly fit the expanded display. The company had already tweaked Outlook to work on the foldable hardware, so now the core office suite is fully ready for the unique screen shape. This news comes shortly after we learned that over fifty apps are getting makeovers for the larger screen.

If you download an older app built with the iOS 26 software kit, you will notice a big difference. These older applications still run perfectly fine, but they only take up the center portion of the inner screen. This leaves large, empty black bars on the sides that make the phone feel like it is running standard mobile software in a tiny box.
To help buyers find software that actually fits, the digital storefront now shows a special label. Applications that use the full screen will display a tag letting you know they are made specifically for the foldable device. Keep in mind that some developers who built their apps using iOS 27.1 might not see the label yet if they forgot to upload the required screenshots to the store.
As more people get their hands on the foldable phone, we should see the list of compatible software grow rapidly. Until then, you can at least get your work done and join video meetings without staring at wasted screen space.
