Apple TV just scored a big win by acquiring the rights to turn the popular novel All the Little Houses into a drama series. The book, written by author May Cobb, hit store shelves in January and sparked a massive bidding war. Now, Apple plans to bring the scandalous thriller to the small screen with help from the original writer. This new series continues the company’s push into gripping television.

The original author will help write the new streaming series

May Cobb is not just handing over the rights and walking away. She will co-create the television show alongside Naomi Sheldon, who previously wrote for the Prime Video series The Girlfriend. The production company Fifth Season is also stepping in to help develop the project.

The streaming service snagged this deal after a highly competitive situation. Multiple networks wanted a piece of this story, proving that the book’s popularity translates into strong market demand. Keeping the original author closely involved should help maintain the tone that made the novel so successful.

Two mothers battle for social control in a wealthy town

The story takes place in the wealthy neighborhood of Longview, Texas. A woman named Charleigh Anderson has worked hard to climb the social ladder and become the undisputed queen of her town. Her perfect life hits a roadblock when a new family moves in next door.

The new neighbors bring a wholesome father and a mother who fully embraces traditional home duties. This sparks a tense rivalry between the two powerful women. Their battle for local dominance eventually brings hidden secrets, old resentments, and dark desires into the open for everyone to see.

Readers who enjoyed the first book will not have to wait long for more of the story. Cobb is releasing a direct sequel titled All the Little Secrets this coming November. If this upcoming television project manages to capture the same explosive drama on camera, the network might just have its next big hit ready for viewers.
