Season 6 is already attacking Slough House from two directions. Former agents are being murdered while the department itself has been deleted from MI5 systems. David’s funeral removes River’s anchor
David was River’s stable parent and professional ideal, even when age and old secrets complicated that image. His death leaves River without the person who translated MI5’s past for him. The funeral forces River to honor a public version that cannot contain everything David did.
