The episode gives Ryan4 a cleaner outcome than most Box travelers receive. It does not show every consequence waiting for him or prove that his life will return to normal. It confirms the immediate objective: the stranded Ryan is no longer being carried from world to world with the group.

A familiar bartender confirms the destination
Finding the destination requires more than recognizing Chicago. Amanda has to focus on the person and life Ryan4 wants to recover. When Matt recognizes him and mentions that authorities had been looking for him, the reaction provides evidence that this Ryan belongs there and has been missing.
That verification matters because nearly identical worlds can produce false confidence. A street, apartment or bar may exist across many branches. Someone with a specific memory of Ryan4’s absence offers a stronger match, even if the story cannot mathematically eliminate every neighboring reality.
Two Ryans improvise a cover story
The immediate problem is that Ryan1 is standing beside his double. The two men invent a story about being long-lost twins, including an increasingly elaborate claim that a nurse abducted one after birth. The comedy releases tension while showing how quickly ordinary life becomes complicated when variants meet.
Once Ryan4 is safely left behind, Ryan1 can focus on Jason2. He considers abandoning the man who stranded him in another universe, but Amanda wants Jason2 to confront what he did. Ryan4’s successful return removes one practical reason to keep the uneasy group together.
Ryan4’s return proves Amanda can navigate
The trip is also an important milestone for Amanda. She demonstrates that Jason2 is not the only person capable of finding a specific world. That independence changes the balance of power and supports her decision to judge Jason2 by what he chooses, not by whether they need him as a guide.
