That makes the next chapter less about whether the Harrigans can simply win another fight and more about whether they can trust the people standing beside them. Harry remains the family’s fixer under pressure
Tom Hardy’s Harry is again positioned at the center of the story. Paramount+ describes him as the Harrigans’ fixer, and the Season 2 setup places him on a dangerous tightrope while tensions rise inside the family. That language is useful because it does not promise a clean switch in allegiance. It promises a character who must keep working inside a system that becomes harder to navigate every time it turns on itself.
Harry’s predicament is personal as well as professional. The job has always required him to absorb the consequences of other people’s decisions, and the new season keeps him in the crossfire of a dispute that reaches beyond a single rival. His usefulness is also his vulnerability: everyone needs a fixer until the fixer knows too much.
Conrad and Maeve face a fractured empire
Pierce Brosnan’s Conrad and Helen Mirren’s Maeve return as the Harrigans’ senior figures, but the official description does not frame them as secure victors. Rising rivals threaten an already fractured criminal empire. The image of unity, then, is a strategy rather than a settled fact.
That distinction should shape the early episodes. The couple can still exercise power, but power is not the same as control. If old resentments surface at the same time as outside pressure, every order can become a test of who is following out of loyalty and who is waiting for a better deal.
New faces widen the field without giving away the game
Johnny Flynn and Ophelia Lovibond join Season 2 as series regulars, but Paramount+ has not identified their characters. That is an important limit on what can be claimed before the premiere. Their casting confirms that the ensemble is expanding; it does not confirm whether either actor plays an ally, an enemy or a figure whose loyalties will change across the season.
The immediate story question is therefore straightforward. Can Harry keep the Harrigans functioning while Conrad and Maeve try to hold a divided organization together? Season 2 has been announced as a 10-episode weekly run, so the premiere has room to establish the new pressure without resolving it at once.
