Apple’s Education Store opens to four groups that Apple names on its own terms and conditions: current and newly accepted higher-education students, parents buying on behalf of an eligible student, faculty and staff at higher-education institutions, and employees of K-12 institutions. Apple verifies eligibility through UNiDAYS for an online order, or in person at an Apple Store, and it publishes no third route.

That list decides who can open the store, not what the store discounts once someone is inside. Apple’s own published prices show real savings on several Mac and display configurations, nothing at all on iPhone, and a separate rule that keeps education pricing apart from the business and corporate purchase programmes Apple also runs. The eligibility question and the discount question are two different things, and Apple documents both, in different places.
Key facts on education store eligibility
| Item | What Apple publishes |
|---|---|
| Higher-education students | Current and newly accepted students qualify |
| Parents | Buying on behalf of an eligible student |
| Higher-education staff | Faculty and staff at higher-education institutions |
| K-12 category | Employees of K-12 institutions, not students or their parents |
| Verification | UNiDAYS for an online order, or in person at an Apple Store |
| iPhone 18 Pro on the Education Store | Same price as the consumer store, at every tier |
| Institutional buying | A separate Education Institution Price List, for schools and districts |
| Combining programmes | Apple’s India store page says its offers do not combine with education or corporate Employee Purchase Plan pricing |

The four groups Apple names
Apple’s wording splits cleanly by education level rather than by age or occupation. Two of the four categories require higher-education status directly: a current or newly accepted student, or a member of faculty or staff employed by a higher-education institution. A third category, parents, is written as buying on behalf of an eligible student, and by its position in Apple’s own list it reads as an extension of the higher-education categories rather than a standing entry of its own.

The fourth category is narrower than it first looks. Apple names employees of K-12 institutions, not K-12 students or their parents. A teacher, administrator or other staff member at a primary or secondary school qualifies by that wording. Apple’s published list does not name a K-12 student as a separate qualifying category the way it names a higher-education student, and it does not extend the parent category to a K-12 household the way it does for higher education.
How Apple verifies eligibility
Apple names exactly two verification paths in the material it publishes: UNiDAYS handles confirmation for an order placed online, and staff at an Apple Store can confirm eligibility in person for a purchase made there. Apple does not publish a third method, a processing time for UNiDAYS, or a list of documents it checks.
What eligibility does not unlock
Meeting one of the four categories does not change every price on the store. Apple’s Education Store lists iPhone 18 Pro at exactly the same prices as the consumer store, across both the 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch models and every storage tier, so none of the four eligible groups gets an education price on that product. Eligibility for the Education Store also does not combine with Apple’s business or corporate purchasing tracks. Apple’s own page for its India store states that its consumer offers are not available to business customers and cannot be combined with education or corporate Employee Purchase Plan pricing, the clearest published statement of that separation, and nothing in Apple’s material suggests education pricing and a business or corporate purchase run together anywhere else.
| Path | Who it reaches | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Education Store, individual | The four groups above | Published prices on eligible Mac and display configurations |
| Education Institution Price List | Schools and districts | Institutional volume purchasing, priced separately |
| Business or corporate purchase programmes | Employees routed through a corporate Employee Purchase Programme | Cannot combine with education pricing |
| iPhone 18 Pro | Every buyer, eligible or not | No education price on any tier |
A separate track for institutions
Individual buyers are not the only ones Apple prices separately. Apple also publishes a formal Education Institution Price List, a document aimed at schools and districts buying in volume rather than at a single eligible person. That price list sits apart from the per-unit Education Store prices described above, and the two are not interchangeable. One prices a single Mac or display for one eligible buyer who has cleared UNiDAYS or an in-store check. The other prices purchasing at the organization level, for a school or district buying many units at once, and Apple keeps it as a separate published document rather than folding it into the consumer-facing store.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not published which K-12 grade levels, if any, allow a student or a parent to buy directly through the Education Store, only that employees of K-12 institutions qualify in their own right. It has not published a business or corporate discount percentage to set against education pricing for comparison, and it has not published the specific figures inside its Education Institution Price List in the material this article draws from. It also has not published how long UNiDAYS verification takes or what documentation it requires from either a student or a staff member.
Apple’s education eligibility terms and its Mac and display education prices were current on its Education Store as of September 12, 2026, the same week its free iOS 27 update arrives on September 14. None of this material touches the September 9 event that introduced iPhone 18 Pro, and the iPhone 18 Pro launch price itself, detailed further in our price breakdown, carries no education discount at all regardless of who is buying it.
