Apple has launched a new Black Unity Apple Watch band that marks Black History Month while focusing on the theme of connection. The company calls this special edition the Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop and describes it as a way of “celebrating the power of connection.” The band joins Apple’s wider Black Unity collection, which highlights creativity, culture, and shared history through design.
Apple shared this news alongside the launch of its new AirTag, which the company revealed on the same morning. In the same announcement, Apple said it is “proud to support organizations that inspire connection and promote creativity through impactful programs in under-resourced communities around the world.”
Design and Materials

The Unity Connection Braided Solo Loop stands out because of how Apple made it and what it represents. Black creatives and their allies at Apple designed this band, just like the earlier Black Unity editions. The look draws from the Pan-African flag, which uses red, green, and black to reflect heritage and identity.
Apple weaves recycled polyester yarn around very thin silicone threads using precision-braiding machines. This process gives the band a soft, textured feel while keeping it strong enough for daily use. The colors do not sit flat on the surface. Instead, they show in layered shades of red, green, and black, which adds depth and a more vivid finish. The band also resists sweat and water, so it works well for workouts and long wear.
What Apple Supports
Alongside the band, Apple continues its work with groups that focus on youth, creativity, and community growth. These efforts fit the same idea of connection that the band promotes.
Apple’s support includes grants for groups such as:
- Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the United States
- Urban Arts in New York City
- Youth Music in London
- Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney
- Enactus México in Mexico City
