Apple is moving closer to a final release by sending out the sixth developer betas for its upcoming mobile software updates. Registered software testers can now download the newest versions of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on their compatible smartphones and tablets. This latest release indicates that the team is speeding up its software testing schedule as the fall launch gets closer.

The company shifts to a weekly software testing release schedule

As the final public release approaches, the development team has shifted to a faster weekly release pattern. The previous test build arrived just one week ago following an unusual three week gap. That previous update introduced redesigned application icons for several built in tools, additional voice customization options for Siri, and new search features within the settings application.

With only a month left until the public launch, this sixth beta likely focuses on performance improvements and bug fixes. The company wants to ensure these updates run as smoothly as possible before regular users install them on their primary devices.

Registered developers can install the new updates via system settings

If you have an active developer account, you can install the new test builds on your compatible devices right now. Before starting the download, you should fully back up your personal data to prevent any accidental file loss.

To get the latest version, open your system settings application and navigate to the general section. Tap on software update, select the beta updates menu, and choose the developer beta option.

Once you select the proper profile, you can download and install the new software directly over the air. The final versions will become available to the public next month.
