What $799 buys on its own
Apple’s newsroom release for Apple Watch Ultra 4 confirms the $799 starting price for the 49mm titanium case, one band included, and the Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable in the box. That price is the only figure most coverage of the launch repeats, and it is the one number in this article that Apple actually states as a total.

Adding the only coverage Apple prices
Apple’s support pricing tables carry a row for Apple Watch Ultra 4, but the price cells are empty on every page fetched, so no per-device AppleCare+ figure exists to add to the $799. The only number that does exist is AppleCare One at $19.99 a month, built to cover up to three products for that price rather than one. A buyer with only an Ultra 4 to insure pays the full three-device rate for a single device, because Apple has not published a cheaper single-device plan.
Three years of ownership, added up
Thirty-six months of AppleCare One at $19.99 comes to $719.64. Added to the $799 purchase price, three years of owning and covering an Apple Watch Ultra 4 this way totals $1,518.64. That total is our own arithmetic on two figures Apple does publish, not a figure Apple has printed as a sum anywhere, and it does not include a single repair, because Apple has not published a repair price for Ultra 4 to add. It also assumes the AppleCare One slot is dedicated to the watch alone; a buyer already running two other devices on the same plan effectively pays nothing extra for adding an Ultra 4 to it, which is the scenario Apple’s pricing rewards and a single-device buyer cannot reach.

The lease route, added up differently, and what happens at the end
Apple Upgrade leases Ultra 4 at $24.99 a month over 24 months, which comes to $599.76 across the term, again our own multiplication of Apple’s published rate. Apple’s lease terms state that if a customer does nothing at the end of the term, the lease converts to month-to-month for up to six more months, which would add roughly $149.94 at the same rate and bring the running total to $749.70 across 30 months, still short of a full three years and without the customer ever owning the watch outright.
Apple names three choices at the end of an Apple Upgrade lease term: upgrade, buy the device outright with a one-time payment, or return it. Beyond the six-month month-to-month conversion, Apple has not published what happens if a customer still does nothing, and has not published the buyout amount that turns a leased Ultra 4 into an owned one.
