Apple is preparing to release three new smart home products that rely heavily on artificial intelligence. According to Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, the technology company wants to use its updated software models to power a fresh lineup of home hardware. These unreleased items include two different display hubs and a smart security camera. While an exact launch date remains unconfirmed, these products could arrive in the United States as soon as this October.

The company will release two tablet displays for home management

Bloomberg reports that Apple is developing a modular tablet hub that users can attach to various magnetic mounts around the house. This device will likely feature a seven-inch screen and pair with a speaker base or a wall mount. It allows people to carry the screen from room to room, attaching it wherever they need to control their smart home setup.

Gurman notes that a second, more advanced version of this hub might include a nine-inch display paired with a robotic arm. This tabletop robot would act as the central brain of the household, tracking where users are in a room and understanding who is speaking to it. The smaller tablets would then work as satellites connected to this main system.

A smart doorbell camera will use advanced facial recognition tools

The third hardware release detailed in the newsletter is a smart security camera that functions as a video doorbell. Apple plans to upgrade the existing facial recognition features found in its current secure video software using new AI models. This upgrade will allow the system to better identify people at the front door.

When a known person approaches the camera, the system will use tagged faces from a user’s photo library to announce the visitor by name through connected home speakers. Gurman highlights that these new products show Apple wants to expand its footprint in the home appliance market under the guidance of incoming CEO John Ternus.
