Just hours after the highly anticipated iPhone Duo arrived in stores, the device has already been successfully jailbroken. A hacker group known as Calif managed to crack open Apple‘s first foldable smartphone right on launch day. The modified device was running iOS 27.1, which is the operating system version that comes exclusively on the new hardware. This fast turnaround shows that the developer community is still actively hunting for software loopholes in new releases.
Hacker group uses artificial intelligence to bypass security
To prove their success, the hackers shared a video showing custom animations on the home screen. The short clip displayed app icons bouncing around freely and featured a custom anime character added directly to the interface. This visual proof confirms they gained deep access to the system.
The team behind this feat recently accomplished a similar task with an iPhone 18 Pro. Security researcher Stefan Esser from the Calif group shared some details about how they pulled it off. He mentioned that the team used artificial intelligence tools to help develop the exploit. They relied on specific software bugs that they plan to report back to the company soon.

If you are hoping to try this out yourself, you are out of luck. The group has no plans to release a public jailbreaking tool for everyday users. Also, most of the vulnerabilities used to access the system are already fixed in the upcoming iOS 27.2 update. Since Apple confirmed the base software version for this new iPhone, updating to a newer patch will likely lock down the hardware again.
