iPhone 18 Pro in India: The Price Complaint Apple Answers, and the Import Question It Does Not

Apple India lists iPhone 18 Pro from ₹1,64,900 and iPhone 18 Pro Max from ₹1,79,900, among the highest starting figures Apple publishes anywhere for this phone. That price gap is the complaint most people expect. The one Apple’s own India pages actually leave open is different: what happens to a unit bought outside India, and Apple has not published an answer.

India’s pre-orders opened at 5:30 pm on Saturday, September 12, an evening slot rather than a morning one, with the phone reaching stores on Friday, September 18, the same date as the US, UK, Canada and Australia. The timing is confirmed. What buying one on the other side of that price gap and bringing it into India actually involves is not.

What the cashback figure actually covers

Apple India’s ways-to-buy page states the cashback ceiling of up to ₹15,000 as a store-wide figure, available with qualifying American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, capped at two orders in any rolling 90-day period. It is not a number Apple prints against iPhone 18 Pro specifically, and Apple also states these offers are not available to Business customers and cannot be combined with Education or Corporate Employee Purchase Plan pricing.

The question Apple’s India page never raises

With India’s starting price among the highest Apple publishes for this phone, buying one on a trip abroad and bringing it home is a live question for anyone pricing out the gap. Apple’s India pages do not address it in either direction. There is no published statement on whether a unit purchased outside India carries the same warranty coverage once activated on an Indian carrier, and no published statement on whether the eSIM or dual-SIM setup behaves identically on a phone that was never sold through an Apple India channel. It is not a small question to leave open. Cross-border purchases of this phone come up every launch cycle precisely because the India-to-elsewhere price gap is large enough to make the trip worth considering, and Apple’s own support pages linked from the India store do not address the scenario either.

That silence is worth stating plainly rather than guessing around. Apple’s tech specs page for iPhone 18 Pro describes the chip, cameras and battery identically regardless of where a unit was purchased, but coverage and service are handled through separate warranty terms that Apple’s India store does not spell out for a device bought elsewhere.

What Apple does confirm about paying for it in India

256GB₹1,64,900₹1,79,900
512GB₹1,89,900₹2,04,900
1TB₹2,39,900₹2,54,900
2TB₹3,14,900₹3,29,900

Every tier above carries a No Cost EMI option, and Apple’s own India store publishes a monthly figure for each one rather than leaving buyers to work it out. That is more detail than several other Apple storefronts show for the same phone, which makes the silence on imported units stand out rather than fade into a wider pattern of unpublished figures.

What Apple has not said

  • Whether an iPhone 18 Pro bought outside India carries the same Apple warranty once registered in India.
  • Whether eSIM or dual-SIM activation behaves any differently on a unit not sold through Apple India.
  • A named lender behind the No Cost EMI offer, beyond “most leading card issuers.”
  • Any guidance at all, positive or negative, for a buyer bringing an iPhone 18 Pro into India from abroad.

Pre-orders in India remain open as of Saturday, September 12, at the prices in the table above. iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max reach Indian stores Friday, September 18, alongside iOS 27 two days earlier. The full event recap covers what else Apple confirmed since September 9.
