The iPhone 18 Pro charges at up to 25W on MagSafe and up to 25W on Qi2, which is exactly what Apple published for the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro before it. The wireless ceiling on a Pro iPhone has not moved for three generations.
Go back five years and the picture is very different. The iPhone 13 Pro was rated at 15W on MagSafe and 7.5W on Qi, and Qi2 did not exist on an iPhone until 2023. The open standard only reached Apple’s own figure last year.

Each row is the figure on Apple’s tech specs page for that phone. Where the last column reads wired claim only, Apple gave a time to 50 percent for a cable and none for a pad.

One caveat on that iPhone 16 Pro row. Apple’s tech specs page for the phone lists MagSafe up to 25W when paired with a 30W adapter, while Apple’s iPhone comparison page lists 22W for that generation, so the two Apple sources do not agree and we are not choosing between them.
The 15W era lasted three phones
From the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021 to the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023, MagSafe on a Pro iPhone was a 15W connection. The doubling arrived with the iPhone 16 Pro in 2024 and has held at 25W ever since.
That means anyone upgrading from an iPhone 13 Pro, 14 Pro or 15 Pro this week is making the only real wireless jump available in the last five years. Coming from a 16 Pro or 17 Pro, the MagSafe row on the spec sheet is unchanged.
When Qi2 arrived, and when it caught up
Qi2 first appears on a Pro iPhone with the iPhone 15 Pro, at 15W, matching MagSafe but not beating it. It stayed at 15W on the iPhone 16 Pro even as MagSafe moved to 25W, which left a genuine gap between an Apple magnetic charger and a certified Qi2 pad.
The iPhone 17 Pro closed it, and the iPhone 18 Pro keeps both figures level at 25W. On Apple’s published numbers there is now no wattage advantage to MagSafe over Qi2 on the Pro, which was not true in 2024.
The wired adapter behind the wireless number
Neither wireless figure is a standalone promise. Apple’s 50 percent in 30 minutes claim for the iPhone 18 Pro is written for a 35W adapter plus MagSafe, one step up from the 30W adapter named in the same claim last year.
The wired claim asks for more again, at 50 percent in around 15 minutes with a 60W USB-C adapter. What Apple has not said
Apple has not published a price for the 60W adapter its wired claim names, a charge curve past 50 percent for wired or wireless, a time to full on any pad, or any figure for a Qi2 charger that is not certified. It has also never explained why the 25W ceiling has stood for three years.
