iPhone Duo Coverage Exists, the Price Does Not: Apple Confirms AppleCare+ for Its Fold and Publishes No Number

Apple’s own newsroom release for iPhone Duo confirms that AppleCare+ and AppleCare One plans are available for the fold. What that release does not do, anywhere Apple has published, is say what AppleCare+ for iPhone Duo actually costs. The case and the folio that protect it from the outside have prices in eight countries. The coverage plan built to protect what is inside does not have one anywhere.

That gap matters more for a fold than for a flat phone, because Apple has also not published a repair price for iPhone Duo’s screen or hinge, which means the one number that would tell a buyer what a bad drop actually costs does not exist twice over: not the monthly premium, and not the bill if the premium goes unpaid.

What Apple confirmed and what it left blank

The iPhone Duo press release states plainly that AppleCare+ and AppleCare One plans are available for the device, alongside the same statement made for iPhone 18 Pro. That is a real confirmation, not a guess. But Apple’s support pricing pages list iPhone Duo nowhere in the AppleCare tables that carry every other current iPhone, and the per-device monthly or annual figure that would let a buyer compare it against a $1,999 purchase simply does not appear on any page Apple serves.

The two numbers that do exist

Two coverage figures are published for this entire launch, and both are multi-device bundles rather than a Duo-specific plan: AppleCare One at $19.99 a month covers up to three products, and AppleCare One Family at $49.99 a month, available from September 14, covers up to six people through Family Sharing. Either would cover a Duo as one of several devices. Neither tells a buyer what covering the Duo alone would cost, because that figure has not been published for any device in this launch.

A case and a folio, priced in eight countries

Where Apple has priced something, it has priced it thoroughly. The iPhone Duo Case and Folio with Kickstand appear with local prices confirmed from Apple’s own regional newsroom releases in eight of the ten storefronts checked. The accessories that sit on the outside of the fold are the best-documented cost on this entire product, which makes the blank AppleCare+ row even harder to explain away as an oversight.

What a cracked hinge would cost

Apple has published no repair pricing at all for iPhone Duo, for the screen, the hinge, or any other component, and there is no published figure close enough to responsibly estimate one. Combine that with the unpriced AppleCare+ plan and the honest answer to “what does it cost if I drop it” is that nobody outside Apple can currently price either side of that question: not the premium that might cover it, and not the bill if it is not covered. The Duo versus iPhone 18 Pro Max comparison covers what the fold costs to buy; this is what it costs to protect, and that second number is currently blank.

What Apple has not said

  • No per-device AppleCare+ monthly or annual price for iPhone Duo, despite confirming the plan exists.
  • No repair price for iPhone Duo’s screen, hinge or any other component.
  • No country list for where AppleCare+ or AppleCare One will actually be sold alongside the Duo.
  • No statement of what happens if a covered Duo needs a repair Apple has not priced.
