That gap sits inside a display Apple otherwise specifies in precise detail: resolution to the pixel, brightness to the nit, contrast ratio to seven figures. The one measurement most people ask about first is the one Apple has left out entirely.

What Apple says about minimizing the crease
Apple’s own description of the iPhone Duo display credits a custom nano-texture finish with reducing glare and minimizing the visible crease, and separately describes optically clear adhesives that let the display layers glide as the phone folds and unfolds. Both are named as engineering choices aimed at the crease. Neither comes with a measurement attached, before or after the fix. Apple also states that the inner display carries an Apple-designed scratch-resistant coating and a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, figures precise enough to compare against any other Apple screen, which only sharpens the contrast with the one line item left blank.

Apple is willing to state a phone’s thickness to a tenth of a millimeter and a screen’s area against two other iPhones as a percentage. It has not applied that same specificity to the one visible seam in the display that a fold necessarily creates.
Why a number would matter more than a description
“Minimizes the visible crease” is a comparative claim with no anchor. Minimized compared to what, by how much, and measured under which lighting are all questions a single figure, depth in microns or a stated visibility angle, would answer on its own. Apple has published exactly this kind of precise, testable number elsewhere on the same spec sheet, for brightness, for contrast, for pixel density. The crease is the exception, not the pattern. It is also the one part of the display that a buyer cannot check on Apple’s own pages before ordering, unlike the camera specifications on iPhone 18 Pro, which are published down to the aperture stop.
What would settle it
A display cross-section figure in Apple’s tech specs, or a support document describing an acceptable range for crease visibility, would settle the question the way Apple has already settled brightness and contrast. Nothing of that kind exists on the iPhone Duo product page or its tech specs page as published today.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not published a crease depth, a crease width, a visibility rating, or a statement about how the crease changes after months of folding. It has named two technologies aimed at the problem and left the result unmeasured. Nothing here should be read as a claim about how visible or deep the crease actually is; that would require exactly the figure Apple has not provided. The same silence covers whether the crease is expected to change in appearance over a year of daily folding, a question Apple’s own durability language about the hinge and the titanium frame does not address for the display layer sitting above it.
iPhone Duo ships Friday, October 23, 2026, more than five weeks after today. If Apple’s tech specs page is updated between now and then, or if a support document accompanies the phone at launch, that is where a crease figure would most plausibly appear first.
