Apple publishes five battery hour ratings for the iPhone Duo and not one number about the cells that produce them. There is no capacity figure in mAh, no charge-cycle rating, and nothing published about how a phone with one battery in each half ages, reports its condition or is serviced.
Apple has never printed a capacity figure for any iPhone, so half of that is routine. The other half is not. The Duo is the first iPhone with what Apple calls a dual-battery system, and the questions two cells raise have no published answers at all.

That list is complete, and every entry in it is a duration or a percentage. The hours are the product Apple is selling; the hardware behind them is unpublished, exactly as it is on the iPhone 18 Pro and its 45-hour claim.

The number Apple has never printed
Milliamp hours appear on no Apple iPhone specification page, past or present. Capacity figures reach the public through regulatory filings and teardowns after a phone goes on sale, which for the Duo means Friday, October 23 at the earliest.
Pre-event reporting described the fold as carrying the largest battery Apple has put in an iPhone, without a figure attached. Apple has not said that, and we are not treating it as a specification. What Apple does say is narrower and more interesting: there are two cells, not one.

The last row is the one that affects daily life. Appleās own spread between displays is 13 hours of video playback, 44 on the outer screen against 31 on the inner one, so how you use the two screens moves the result more than any other variable it publishes.
The clue Apple leaves in its environmental copy
Appleās materials lines confirm the plural. It lists 100 percent recycled cobalt in the batteries and 95 percent recycled lithium, alongside 35 percent recycled content overall, a 100 percent recycled titanium hinge cover and 100 percent fiber-based packaging.
That is the closest Apple comes to acknowledging that servicing this phone is a different job from servicing a slab. It publishes no repair price for the battery, or for anything else on the Duo, and no per-device AppleCare+ price for it either.
What it changes about spending $1,999
Three practical consequences follow from the blanks, and none of them is fixed by waiting for a better spec sheet.
- You cannot compare the Duo on capacity with foldables that publish mAh. The comparison has to be made on Appleās hour ratings, and only against other iPhones, because Apple measures them its own way.
- You cannot judge how the pack will age. With no cycle rating and no statement about two cells ageing together, longevity is unknowable until the phones have been in use for months.
- The fastest charging Apple publishes needs an adapter that is not in the box. The 20-minute half charge requires a 60W-capable USB-C adapter bought separately, and the 30-minute wireless figure needs a MagSafe or Qi2 charger at up to 25W.
Against the iPhone 18 Pro Max at $1,299, the foldās best video figure of 44 hours on the outer display sits just below the Pro Max rating of 45 hours, and its inner-display figure of 31 hours sits well under it. That is the honest way to read the trade, and it is the only way Apple has made available.

- A charge-cycle rating, or any statement about how the two cells age relative to each other.
- How battery condition is reported, or whether service covers one cell or both.
- A battery replacement price, a repair price for any component, or an AppleCare+ price for the Duo.
- Whether the 24-hour typical figure was measured with both displays lit at any point.
Pre-orders open Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. PT and the Duo ships Friday, October 23, with 28 more countries and regions on Friday, October 30. Capacity figures for the products Apple announced on September 9 have historically surfaced only once the hardware is out, so October 23 is the first realistic date for any of this to be settled, and it will not be Apple that settles it.
