But four details on Apple’s own live pages were never part of the announcement itself, and none of them appear in the coverage written the day of the event. They surface only in the tech specs page’s footnotes, or on Apple’s developer site.

Crash Detection quietly joins the feature list
Apple’s tech specs page carries a numbered footnote stating that “iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air can detect severe car crashes and call for help,” and that the feature requires a cellular connection, satellite connectivity or Wi-Fi calling. Neither the keynote nor Apple’s press release named Crash Detection for its foldable. It shows up only in the specs page’s fine print, alongside the same footnote Apple runs on iPhone 18 Pro’s own specs page, which lists the identical five-model roster below.

The band list fills in exactly which networks apply
Apple’s September 9 materials described iPhone Duo’s modem as “5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave” without listing a single band number. The live specs page now names model A3447 directly and lists the FDD and TDD 5G NR bands, the LTE bands, and three mmWave bands (n258, n260 and n261) that match the mmWave support Apple already ships on its US iPhones. None of that granularity was published on launch day; it exists now because the specs page, not the keynote, is where Apple always puts it.
A rounded-corner footnote resizes both displays, on paper
Apple’s marketing language calls the two displays 7.6-inch and 5.4-inch. A footnote added to the specs page explains why those numbers are a little generous: “The iPhone Duo displays have rounded corners that follow a beautiful curved design, and these corners are within a standard rectangle. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screens are 7.58 and 5.36 inches diagonally (actual viewable area is less).” Apple uses this exact disclosure pattern on every iPhone, but the 7.58- and 5.36-inch figures themselves are new information, not something the keynote or the press release stated.
Apple opened a developer hub the same day
On September 9, Apple’s developer site also published a “Get Ready for iPhone Duo” hub, with six technical videos and a design guide already live and more tools promised for later in the month. That page sits on developer.apple.com rather than in the consumer press kit, which is why it did not turn up in the research written immediately after the event recap went live.
What Apple has not said

- No update to the country list beyond the more than 70 named for October 23 and 28 more for October 30.
- No specific date within September for the developer tools still marked “coming later this month.”
