Johny Srouji Expands His Role As Apple Chief Hardware Officer

Apple Johny Srouji chief hardware officer

Apple is shuffling its top leadership team as it prepares for a major transition later this year. The company announced that Johny Srouji will take on a much larger set of responsibilities. He is officially stepping up to become the chief hardware officer. This newly expanded position puts him in charge of both the hardware engineering and hardware technologies divisions at the firm.

The leadership change combines two major divisions under one person

This promotion comes right as Tim Cook is stepping down as Apple CEO and John Ternus is taking over. Srouji previously worked as the senior vice president of hardware technologies. He built the team responsible for creating custom processors for the iPhone and Mac lines. Now, he will also oversee the hardware engineering group that Ternus managed before his own promotion.

By merging these two giant departments, the business is placing its entire hardware vision under a single leader. Srouji will now guide both the design of internal components and the final assembly of physical products.

Top executives praise his past success with custom processor designs

Current CEO Tim Cook shared high praise for the new hardware chief. Cook stated that Srouji is one of the most talented people he has ever worked with.

“He has played a singular role in driving Apple’s silicon strategy, and his influence has been felt deeply not just inside the company, but across the industry,” Cook noted. He added that Srouji and his engineering group consistently deliver major updates that completely transform how the products work.

Incoming CEO John Ternus echoed that positive sentiment. Ternus mentioned that Srouji has been an incredible partner on the executive team. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in our new roles,” Ternus said.

Srouji’s promotion looks less like a simple title change and more like a signal. Apple is doubling down on hardware control, and it wants one leader connecting the dots across chips, devices, and future products.
