Former chief financial officer Luca Maestri is stepping away from his position running corporate services at Apple. Maestri took on the corporate services job in late 2024 after finishing his long run as the top finance executive under former chief executive Tim Cook. Now, as the company enters a new era of leadership, Maestri is winding down his daily work and handing over his remaining major duties.

Current finance chief absorbs the corporate services duties during this transition

Kevan Parekh has officially taken over the corporate services duties. Maestri is still on the payroll for now, but his daily responsibilities have mostly disappeared. Reports show he is only visiting the office once a week as he gets ready for retirement. Right now, his only known task is teaching a single class at its internal education program for staff and leaders.

Because he is phasing out his involvement, Maestri will likely not report directly to new chief executive John Ternus before his final departure. This move is part of a larger trend of older leaders handing over the reins. For example, fellow longtime executive Phil Schiller recently made a similar move by stepping back from his main duties. Schiller handed off his work managing product events and the App Store to other leaders on the team.

This transition highlights a significant changing of the guard across the leadership board. As veteran executives who helped build the company over the last decade step aside, a fresh group of directors is stepping up to shape its hardware and software roadmap for the coming years.
