Meta has expanded its AI hardware plans with camera-free glasses and a dedicated Muse Charm, a small companion device that has already drawn comparisons with a Tamagotchi. The products push Meta’s assistant beyond phones, social apps and conventional smart glasses.
Meta describes Muse as a personal agent in its official announcement. The company says Muse can act across apps and services, while the Charm provides a dedicated object people can speak with directly.
The camera-free glasses target users who want audio, notifications and assistant features without a camera pointed at the surrounding world. That distinction may make them easier to use in workplaces, schools and social settings where camera-equipped wearables face privacy concerns.

Muse Charms can interact with each other
Meta says multiple Muse Charms can interact, giving the device a social and character-like element instead of making it only a voice remote. That is where the Tamagotchi comparison comes from: the product is presented as a persistent companion with its own presence.
The idea could make an AI assistant feel more personal, but important practical details remain. Battery life, privacy controls, wireless connectivity, regional availability and final pricing will determine whether the Charm offers lasting value after the novelty fades.
Apple has its own investments in wearables, spatial computing and Apple Intelligence, but it has not announced a direct counterpart. Meta’s launch is therefore best understood as another experiment in how consumers might carry and interact with personal AI.
