A new survey reveals that almost everyone in the country has tested out artificial intelligence tools at least once over the past year. Despite this massive adoption rate, the actual enthusiasm for the new technology remains surprisingly low. A recent poll shows that while people find these digital assistants helpful for basic daily tasks, a large portion of the public believes the entire trend is completely overblown.
Most users rely on the tools daily but refuse to pay
According to the latest survey data, 96 percent of Americans have tried AI at some point, and 86 percent still use it on a regular basis. People mostly rely on these platforms to search for information, compare different products, and plan their daily schedules. Interestingly, more than one in five users admit to talking to chatbots simply for companionship or to vent about their day.
Even with so many daily active users, the general attitude toward the technology is mixed. A slim majority of 51 percent think artificial intelligence is getting way too much hype. The concerns go even deeper, as 77 percent believe these tools make humans lazier, and 57 percent worry that relying on software weakens our critical thinking skills over time.
Because of these doubts, very few people are willing to open their wallets. Only 26 percent of current users actually pay for a subscription. The survey noted that 54 percent of people would abandon the tools completely if they were forced to pay a monthly fee.
While tech companies continue to launch new software, the average consumer clearly prefers to keep their money and invest in real human workers instead.
