Apple has published no release date for tvOS 27 and no list of Apple TV models that can install it, even though the software reached release candidate on September 9 with build 24J360. The five other operating systems from the same wave all arrive on Monday, September 14.
Apple’s own pages carry the line “available starting 9.14” for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27. There is no equivalent line for tvOS 27 because there is no equivalent page: the tvOS address on Apple’s site now redirects to a general TV and Home section with no tvOS 27 content on it.

What Apple has published about tvOS 27
Three features, all from Apple’s June services announcement. Apple Podcasts on tvOS gets a complete redesign with video playback, sidebar navigation and creator episode artwork. Apple Music AutoMix comes to tvOS and HomePod. Hi-Res Lossless audio plays through compatible external outputs on Apple TV 4K.
Beyond that, Apple named tvOS 27 in June among the releases receiving “software improvements” and left the improvements unlisted. Siri AI is not among them: Apple’s sentence names iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27, and tvOS is absent from it. Every one of those is a developer or IT surface. None is a page a customer would ever open, and none of them carries a release date.
Which Apple TV can run it
Apple has not said. Its Apple TV 4K page still sells the A15 Bionic model in 64GB Wi-Fi and 128GB Wi-Fi plus Ethernet configurations, with no new model announced on September 9 and no new badge on the page.
The same page is perfectly willing to draw hardware lines when Apple wants to: Apple Music Sing is still described there as available on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation), and the page flags feature differences between the second and third generation 4K boxes. For tvOS 27 it draws no line at all.
Compare that with the rest of the wave. watchOS 27 names its eight watches outright, as our Apple Watch Series 12 coverage sets out, and iOS 27 names every one of its 33 iPhones. The keynote live blog shows Apple never mentioned Apple TV from the stage.
