Three decisions go into an iPhone 18 Pro pre-order when the page opens at 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12: storage, color and case. Only one of them is permanent, one of them is free, and one of them can wait until the phone is already in your hand.
Apple prices the four capacities at $1,199, $1,399, $1,799 and $2,399, charges the same for every finish, and sells cases from $49. In order of what they are worth, the list runs storage, color, case, and it is worth settling them in that order before the page opens. Storage is the only one you cannot undo
The three steps cost $200, $400 and $600. Against the $1,199 base that is 16.7 percent, 50 percent and 100.1 percent, by our arithmetic on Apple’s prices, so going all the way to 2TB costs almost exactly what a second base iPhone 18 Pro costs.
Apple’s tech specs list four capacities and no expansion of any kind. USB-C with USB 3 at up to 10 Gb/s is the only route to more space after purchase, and the drive is yours to buy. If you are torn between two tiers, the sum worth doing is the monthly one: $200 across three years of ownership is $5.56 a month, which is a smaller number than most people expect and the reason regret usually runs in one direction.
The same four steps apply to the Pro Max at $1,299, $1,499, $1,899 and $2,499, so the size question and the capacity question are independent of each other.
Color costs nothing and only decides when the phone arrives
Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy, all at the same price. Black returns after the iPhone 17 Pro skipped it, Burgundy is a dark cherry red, Glacier is a light blue, and last year’s Cosmic Orange is gone.
The only cost attached to a finish is the delivery date. Apple does not publish stock levels or per-color allocations before pre-orders, so the finish you pick at 5 a.m. can be the difference between September 18 and a date well into October. Decide in advance which matters more to you, the color or the first shipment, because that is not a question to work out with a checkout page open.
Case money and storage money are not the same size

Prices from Apple’s September 9 newsroom release. Read them as a share of the phone and the weighting becomes obvious: a $49 case is 4.1 percent of a $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro, a $59 case is 4.9 percent, and a case, a wallet and a crossbody strap together are $177, or 14.8 percent. The first storage step is 16.7 percent and the last is 100.1 percent. All of those are our arithmetic on Apple’s published prices.
That is the entire argument for settling the three decisions in this order. The accessory money is small and reversible, and it costs the same in December as it does at 5 a.m. on Saturday. The storage money is large and stops being available the moment the order is placed.
One more line worth reading before you build the order: Apple’s spec sheet says the box holds the iPhone and a 1 m USB-C cable. The 60W adapter behind Apple’s 50 percent charge in around 15 minutes is sold separately.
What Apple has not said
Apple does not publish pre-order stock levels, per-color delivery estimates, or AppleCare pricing for these models: the price cells on its own coverage pages are not populated for iPhone 18 Pro. It has not said whether more case colors follow later in the year, and it has not confirmed whether tier prices change after launch.
Pre-orders open at 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12, which is 1 pm BST in the UK and 5:30 pm IST in India, with phones in stores on Friday, September 18 in more than 65 countries and 20 more on September 25. iOS 27 arrives on Monday, September 14, four days before the phones. Settle the storage before the page opens; the other two can be settled afterwards.
