Under 180 g: iPhone Air and the standard models

The iPhone Air is the outlier at 165 g and 5.64 mm, the thinnest and lightest phone in the table by a clear margin. Every standard model from the iPhone 13 to the iPhone 16 sits in a 170 g to 174 g band at 7.65 mm to 7.80 mm, and the 16e is 167 g. Our iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone Air comparison weighs the 46 g difference against the Pro cameras you give up.

The iPhone 17 is the heaviest standard model at 177 g, which goes with its move to a 6.3-inch display and a 7.95 mm body.

The Pros: 187 g to 211 g

Frame material shows up clearly here. The stainless-steel iPhone 13 Pro and 14 Pro weighed 204 g and 206 g. The switch to titanium dropped the iPhone 15 Pro to 187 g, the lightest Pro in the list, and the 16 Pro came in at 199 g with a larger 6.3-inch display.

The move to an aluminum unibody with a Ceramic Shield back on the iPhone 17 Pro took the weight back to 206 g and the thickness to 8.75 mm. The iPhone 18 Pro is 211 g, 5 g heavier, at the same 71.9 x 150.0 x 8.75 mm dimensions Apple lists for both phones.

Pro Max and iPhone Duo: 221 g to 254 g

The big phones follow the same material pattern. The titanium 15 Pro Max and 16 Pro Max weighed 221 g and 227 g, lighter than the 240 g steel 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max. The aluminum unibody 17 Pro Max was 233 g.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is 249 g, 16 g more than the 17 Pro Max at identical 78.0 x 163.4 x 8.75 mm dimensions, and 9 g heavier than the steel Pro Max models of 2021 and 2022. It is the heaviest iPhone that does not fold. The difference between the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max is 38 g, which our Pro vs Pro Max guide sets against the battery and screen gains.

The iPhone Duo tops the table at 254 g, 5 g more than the 18 Pro Max and 89 g more than the iPhone Air. Our Duo vs 18 Pro Max comparison covers what that weight buys, and the Duo launch story has the full spec list.
