No New Apple TV 4K at Apple’s September Event: What the A19 Code Leak Says and When to Expect It

Apple did not announce a new Apple TV 4K at its September 9 “Surprise and shine” event. The keynote covered iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, and new Health features, and Apple’s Newsroom has no press release for Apple TV, HomePod, HomePod mini or a home hub.

That leaves a pre-event code leak as the only recent signal for the next Apple TV. As The Mac Observer reported before the event, code found by leakers pointed to a next Apple TV 4K with an A19 or A19 Pro chip. Apple has not confirmed that chip, and it has not confirmed that a new Apple TV is coming at all.

What Apple announced on September 9, and what it skipped

Every hardware product from the keynote now has a press release, a price or a date. The living room products that were rumored have none of those.

Our full event recap covers everything Apple did announce. Nothing in the keynote referred to Apple TV hardware or a new chip for it.

What the A19 code leak actually says

The code pointed to an A19 or A19 Pro chip and nothing more. It did not name a price, a storage tier, a release window or any new feature, and Apple has not filled in any of those gaps.

Code references can describe products that are months from launch, or that change before they ship. Until Apple says otherwise, an A19 or A19 Pro Apple TV 4K is a report, not a product.

Our pre-event list of what Apple probably would not announce on September 9 put Apple TV in that group, and the keynote bore that out.

When to expect a new Apple TV 4K

Apple has not given a date. The nearest fixed point is software: iOS 27 and watchOS 27 arrive Monday, September 14 as free updates, and 9to5Mac reports that tvOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27 are expected the same day.

If tvOS 27 ships on September 14 without new hardware, current Apple TV owners get the software first, and any A19-based box would follow on a schedule Apple has not shared.

What happens next: iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders open Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PT, iOS 27 arrives September 14, and Apple has not confirmed a new Apple TV 4K, its chip, its price or its release date.
