Ted Lasso is coming back for a fourth season next week, but it brings some major changes to the pitch. The popular show is shifting its main focus to a brand new women’s football team called the Lady Greyhounds. While familiar faces will lead the charge, viewers will need to say goodbye to many of the original players to make room for a fresh roster of talented athletes.
The show introduces new players to the Lady Greyhounds roster
The fourth season keeps core characters like Ted, Rebecca, Keeley, Roy, and Coach Beard around full time. They will spend their time focusing on the new women’s team rather than the old crew.

Tanya Reynolds joins as Alice Chilton, a new coach who works right alongside Ted and Beard. Her character tries hard to present a tough exterior but will slowly reveal her softer side as the season goes on.
The main players highlighted on the new team include:
- Abbie Hern as Gemma, whose strength is ambition.
- Jude Mack as Boots, the wise goalkeeper.
- Faye Marsay as Lizzie, a player full of tenacity.
- Aisling Sharkey as Niamh and Rex Hayes as Siobhan, twins who play as defenders.
You will be able to stream the new episodes directly on Apple TV to see how the new team comes together.
Several familiar men’s team players will not return as regulars
Since the story now centers on the Lady Greyhounds, many characters from the first three seasons are stepping away. The AFC Richmond men’s team will be missing from the weekly lineup.
These original characters are no longer series regulars:
- Jamie Tartt
- Dani Rojas
- Sam Obisanya
Nick Mohammed, who plays Nate, is expected to return in some form but will not be a regular cast member. While some of these familiar faces might show up for brief cameos, the core story has officially moved on.
The creative shift clears the bench to give the new cast plenty of room to grow. Whether you watch the premiere on a commute using your iPhone or at home on an older Apple TV set-top box, the series is essentially starting a new chapter.
