Apple releases tvOS 27.2 beta 2, Here’s what’s changed

Apple has released tvOS 27.2 beta 2 for registered developers and beta testers, with build number 24K5093g. The new seed replaces the first beta as Apple continues testing the next software update for compatible Apple TV devices.

Apple’s tvOS 27 release notes do not list a viewer-facing feature or fix as specific to beta 2. That means users should not assume this seed adds a visible change simply because its build number is new.

What Apple has documented

The tvOS notes contain guidance and known issues for the wider tvOS 27 release cycle, but they do not present those entries as new in this particular beta. Apple’s Xcode 27.2 beta notes confirm that the developer tool includes the tvOS 27.2 SDK for testing apps against the upcoming platform update.

Those Xcode notes also flag a developer issue in which several 27.2 SDKs, including tvOS, can incorrectly report 27.1 as a valid deployment target. This affects development and deployment settings. It is not evidence of a change to the Apple TV viewing experience.

Who should install the beta

Beta 2 is most useful for developers checking playback, interface behavior, and app compatibility before tvOS 27.2 is finished. The update remains prerelease software, so installing it on a household’s main Apple TV can introduce bugs or app problems without providing a documented new feature in return.

Compatibility also remains narrower than it was for older tvOS releases. Apple’s current platform left the Apple TV HD and first Apple TV 4K behind. Testers coming from the first tvOS 27.2 beta should still back up any important app or account information they can before updating.
