Apple sells AirPods 5 in two versions, at $129 and $149, and has published a full marketing site, a press release, a tech specs page and an environmental report for both. It has not published a color option, a talk-time figure, a replacement case price or a support document for either of them.
Six days before the September 18 release, here is what is missing from the AirPods 5 spec sheets rather than what is on them. Every gap below is an Apple page we read that does not carry the figure, not a figure we could not find elsewhere. The confirmed side of the launch is in our AirPods 5 announcement coverage.
| Published | AirPods 5 | AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $129 | $149 |
| Chip | H2 | H2 |
| Listening, ANC on | up to 4 hours | up to 5 hours |
| Total with case, ANC on | up to 20 hours | up to 22 hours |
| Case charging | USB-C | USB-C, Qi-certified chargers, Apple Watch charger |
| Water and sweat rating | IP57 | IP57 |
| Bud weight | 4.3 g | 4.3 g |
10 figures Apple has not published for either model
- A color. Apple’s tech specs page lists no finish option for either model.
- Talk time. Every previous AirPods generation had one, and the AirPods 5 specs page does not.
- A total with the case for listening with noise cancellation off. Apple gives six and seven hours on the buds, then stops.
- A charge-cycle rating, a case reserve, or any capacity figure in milliamp-hours.
- A time to charge either case from empty, a wattage requirement, or a Qi charging speed.
- A standalone or replacement price for the Wireless Charging Case, in any storefront.
- A repair price or a battery service price for the buds or either case.
- An AppleCare price for AirPods 5, which is not published per device for any of Apple’s September 2026 products.
- A support document or a manual. Apple’s manuals index does not list AirPods 5, and no new support article number has appeared.
- A carbon neutral statement. The AirPods 5 Product Environmental Report is published, and that designation does not appear in it.
The gap that matters most before Friday
One absence is not a missing number but a missing explanation. Apple’s store and product pages give the $129 model four hours of listening with noise cancellation and the $149 model five, along with 20 hours and 22 hours in total. The press release quotes only the five and 22 hour figures.

Everything else Apple publishes about the two sets of buds is identical, including the H2 chip, the IP57 rating, the 4.3 gram weight and the feature list, and the published differences all sit in the case. Apple has not said whether the buds differ or whether one figure is wrong, and it is the single question a buyer choosing on price cannot answer from Apple’s own pages.
Where the answers would normally be
For a product Apple has already taken money for, the support library is unusually thin. These are the sources that would carry the missing figures, and their state as of this morning.
| Source | Status |
|---|---|
| AirPods 5 tech specs page | Published, no color, no talk time, no ANC-off total with case |
| Apple Store buy page | Published, states the box has no USB-C cable and no power adapter |
| Apple support document for AirPods 5 | None issued, unlike every previous AirPods generation |
| Apple manuals index | Lists earlier AirPods, not AirPods 5 |
| Product Environmental Report | Published, 40 percent recycled material by weight, 35 percent renewable electricity, no carbon neutral claim |
| UK, German and French prices | Not published on those regional newsrooms |
What is confirmed, so you can see the shape of the gaps
Both models carry Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency, Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation, next-generation Adaptive EQ and Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking. Apple claims up to 50 percent more noise removed than AirPods 4 with ANC in its press release, and up to 1.5 times more noise cancellation on the product page, with no test conditions on either. Hands-free Siri AI and Live Translation need iOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence iPhone, which arrives on Monday, September 14.
The Wireless Charging Case adds Qi and Apple Watch charging, a speaker so Find My can play a sound, and the force-sensor volume swipe that Apple lists only on that model. Separation alerts work on both.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not said when the AirPods 5 support library will appear, and the gap is not specific to AirPods: it has published marketing pages and press releases for six new products this week without the matching support documents. It has published no stock information for either model, in any market, which is why nobody can honestly tell you what will still be orderable next week.
AirPods 5 have been available to pre-order since September 9 and reach stores on Friday, September 18, the same day as the iPhone 18 Pro and the Apple Watch Series 12. iOS 27 arrives two days earlier, on Monday, September 14, and that is the first date on which any of the gaps above are likely to close.
