Apple is giving its workout service a major upgrade for people who lift weights. The company just revealed the Apple Fitness+ Gym Strength program to help you build a personalized four-week training routine. Instead of just following along with standard videos, this new feature looks at your personal goals, your schedule, and the actual equipment you have to create a custom plan that adapts to your progress over time.
The app builds personal routines using your available gym equipment
Setting up a new workout schedule is quite easy with this update. You start by picking the days you want to train and the specific muscle groups you want to focus on. From there, the app generates a list of suggested exercises, sets, reps, and the weight you should lift. It even gives you short trainer videos that show every move from three different angles.
The feature is currently available in the latest iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 developer betas. Whether you are using your iPhone or looking at a larger screen on an iPad, the system lets you swap out movements. You can choose from over 350 exercises across 30 different equipment types. A simple pair of dumbbells is all you need to get started, but you can also log kettlebells, cables, and barbells.

Watch integration tracks your weights and reps in real time
You do not have to carry your phone around the gym floor. If you wear an Apple Watch, you can log your completed sets, reps, and weights directly from your wrist. The watch also continues to track your heart rate and burned calories in the background while you train. The system runs on the newest watchOS 27 software to keep everything synced up.
The best part is how the program learns from you. It adjusts your future sessions based on what you actually lifted in the previous week. It also includes an optional Training Note feature that previews your upcoming session and explains your progress. You will get all these new strength tools included in your standard Fitness+ subscription at $9.99 a month, giving you a smart alternative to hiring a personal trainer.
