Apple seems to have a massive hit on its hands following the recent launch of the iPhone Duo. According to a new market analysis report, the new device is already seeing strong demand from everyday buyers. Industry experts now expect Apple to capture nearly 30 percent of the global folding phone space by next year, completely shaking up a market that has been ruled by rival brands for a long time.

The new phone puts heavy pressure on rival smartphone makers

TrendForce recently published a report highlighting that the iPhone Duo could grab a 29.8 percent share of the global folding smartphone market in 2027. That is a massive leap for Apple since it is just entering the space.

Apple is projected to take the second spot overall, just behind Samsung. The report notes that Samsung could see its market share drop from 35.1 percent in 2026 to 31.9 percent in 2027. Meanwhile, Huawei is expected to fall to third place, dropping to 21.3 percent of the foldable market.

The early sales look really promising. Current estimates suggest Apple might ship around five million units by the end of 2026.

Software integration drives interest despite some early hardware concerns

The massive appeal of the new iPhone goes beyond just its physical design. Analysts point out that Apple has a big advantage because it builds its own custom chips, operating systems, and massive developer network from the ground up.

This tight control helps Apple deliver a fast and fluid experience right out of the box. There is also a lot of excitement around how Apple will bring new AI software features to the larger inner screen to help users get more done.

While there have been a few early reports of minor display issues, the overall reaction remains highly positive. The long term success of the device will likely depend on how well the hardware holds up after months of daily use. But for now, Apple has successfully crashed the folding phone party and looks ready to stick around for the long haul.
