AppleCare+ for Apple HomeView costs $24.99 a year or $2.49 a month, according to the pricing table on Apple’s AppleCare page. The same table lists AppleCare+ for HomePod mini 2 at $9.99 a year or $0.99 a month, Apple TV 4K at $14.99 a year and HomePod at $19.99 a year.

That puts a year of coverage for the $299 HomeView at less than a tenth of its price. HomePod mini 2 costs $149 and starts arriving on Friday, October 30, while HomeView and Apple TV 4K (4th generation) arrive on Friday, November 13.

Apple’s own price data names the Apple TV plan “AppleCare+ for Apple TV 4K (4th generation).” Both the monthly and annual plans are listed as coverage “until cancelled,” so neither option ends after a fixed term.

Annual or monthly: what you save
Paying once a year is cheaper for every device. Our math, based on Apple’s prices:
- HomeView: 12 monthly payments of $2.49 add up to $29.88, or $4.89 more than the $24.99 annual plan.
- Apple TV 4K: $17.88 a year on monthly billing against $14.99, a $2.89 difference.
- HomePod mini 2: $11.88 a year on monthly billing against $9.99, a $1.89 difference.
- HomePod: $23.88 a year on monthly billing against $19.99, a $3.89 difference.
Monthly billing makes sense if you expect to cancel within the year. If you plan to keep the plan running, the annual price is the better deal.
What a repair costs with AppleCare+
Apple’s AppleCare Service Fees and Deductibles page lists these fees under “Apple TV and Home”:
- $15 for accidental damage to Apple TV
- $15 for accidental damage to HomePod mini
- $39 for accidental damage to HomePod
- $39 for accidental damage to Apple HomeView
On the AppleCare page, Apple describes these as a flat service fee of $15 to $39 for accidents “like liquid damage,” covered “anytime you need.” Apple’s footnotes add that “there are no service fees for mechanical failures,” so hardware defects are fixed without a fee while the plan is active. Each accidental damage incident carries its service fee plus applicable tax.
For HomeView, that means a year of coverage plus one accident comes to $63.99 before tax on the annual plan. For HomePod mini 2, it is $24.99.
What the home plans include
Apple lists three headline benefits for Home devices:
- Unlimited repairs for accidents like drops and spills
- Express Replacement Service
- 24/7 priority support from Apple experts
With Express Replacement Service, Apple says it will ship a replacement device “so you don’t have to wait for a repair.” Mail-in repairs with a prepaid shipping label are also available, and Apple says there are more than 5,000 Apple Authorized Service Providers worldwide.
Theft and loss is not part of these plans. Apple says theft and loss coverage applies to iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
Coverage begins when your device ships or is picked up. According to Apple’s FAQ, you can start an AppleCare+ plan when you buy a new product from Apple, and for 60 days after a new Apple purchase you can get a new plan through the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
Buyers in Australia face a short wait. Apple’s Australian HomeView page says that “due to local regulations, AppleCare coverage can be purchased four days after your device is shipped or picked up.”
AppleCare One instead
If you already pay for AppleCare One, a new home device can go on that plan instead. AppleCare One Individual costs $19.99 a month for up to three products, with more products at $5.99 a month each. AppleCare One Family costs $49.99 a month and covers all eligible devices for up to six people in a Family Sharing group.
The FAQ on Apple’s HomeView store page says AppleCare One extends to products bought recently or covered by AppleCare+, plus other Apple devices “that are less than 4 years old and in good condition.”
For a single home device, AppleCare+ costs far less. Even the most expensive home plan, HomeView at $2.49 a month, is a fraction of AppleCare One Individual’s $19.99. The plan comes out ahead only if you are already covering an iPhone, iPad or Mac and have a slot to spare.
