Social media giant Instagram is expanding its video experience to the living room by launching a dedicated app for the Apple TV. This new release allows users to watch short Reels, longer videos, and live broadcasts directly on their televisions. It offers a really fun way to discover content from favorite creators and watch videos together with friends and family on a much larger display.
The app lets users stream short videos and live broadcasts
The television app became available on October 23 and requires tvOS 26.0 or newer to run. Users can pick up right where they left off on their phones and resume watching across different devices.
Parent company Meta previously tested TV versions on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV before bringing the software to Apple hardware. The initial rollout focused mainly on auto-playing clips organized into specific interest channels.

The platform brings longer episodic creator series to televisions
The company shared plans earlier this summer to move beyond short clips. The updated media library now supports longer creator content, episodic series, and live shows alongside the usual feed videos.
This launch follows a long-awaited iPad version that arrived last year. By putting the platform on the biggest screen in the house, creators now have a great reason to produce higher quality, TV-style shows for audiences relaxing on the couch.
