iPhone 18 Pro in the UK: The Afternoon Pre-Order, and What the Price Already Includes

iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders in the UK opened at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, an early-afternoon slot that has become the loudest UK complaint of the day, next to a US opening time of 5 a.m. Apple’s own UK store page states the time exactly, and lining it up against the US clock explains most of the frustration without needing anything Apple has not published.

The other UK complaint doing the rounds is the price itself, £1,199 for the entry iPhone 18 Pro, compared directly against the US figure of $1,199 as if the two numbers meant the same thing. Apple’s own UK and US pages show why they do not, and both complaints trace back to the same source: how each Apple storefront is built, not a decision Apple has made specifically about Britain.

Why 1 pm, not overnight

Apple runs every iPhone 18 Pro storefront off the same global instant. The US opened at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 12:00 UTC. Britain sits one hour ahead of UTC in September under British Summer Time, so the identical moment lands at 1:00 pm in London. Nothing about the UK’s schedule was decided separately from the US one; the two times are the same second on two different clocks, and the UK’s happens to fall in the middle of a Saturday afternoon rather than before sunrise.

One price, not two

Apple’s US pricing attaches a carrier connection to its lower headline figure, with an unlocked phone costing $100 more. The UK page carries no equivalent split. Apple’s UK newsroom release and its UK store page both say £1,199 for the same 256GB model, and that is the only price on offer, unlocked, with no carrier requirement attached to it.

The bigger reason the two headline numbers do not compare cleanly is tax. US list prices exclude sales tax, which is added separately at checkout depending on the state. UK prices, like most of Apple’s storefronts outside the US, are quoted with tax already folded in. Reading £1,199 next to $1,199 as though they describe the same transaction skips that difference entirely. The same convention applies to several of Apple’s other stores. Its EU, Japanese and Indian prices are also quoted with tax included, and the US is the outlier that lists a figure before tax is added.

The 30-month route Apple offers in the UK

StorageiPhone 18 Pro, per monthiPhone 18 Pro Max, per month
256GB£39.96£43.30
512GB£46.63£49.96
1TB£59.96£63.30
2TB£79.96£83.30

Apple’s UK store spreads every tier over 30 months at 0 percent APR. Multiply any figure above by 30 and it lands on the tier’s full sticker price, because there is no interest added along the way. A UK buyer who finances an iPhone 18 Pro or Pro Max this way pays exactly the number in the key facts table above, just spread out. Not every Apple storefront offers a 0 percent route on this phone; some publish a stated annual rate instead, so the UK terms are worth checking rather than assuming they match what a different country’s Apple Store shows.

What Apple has not said

  • Why it set the UK pre-order clock to 1 pm rather than a UK-friendly early morning hour.
  • A per-model UK trade-in table. Only the single £455 figure, for iPhone 16 Pro or later, is published.
  • Why its UK financing carries no interest while some other Apple storefronts charge a stated APR.

Pre-orders remain open in the UK as of Saturday, September 12, under the terms above. iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max reach UK stores Friday, September 18, alongside iOS 27 two days earlier. The full event recap covers what else Apple confirmed since September 9.
