Rhea Seehorn is officially joining her second big project with Apple. The popular actor, known for her award-winning work on Apple TV, just signed on for a brand new movie called Running. The upcoming feature film comes from director Gavin O’Connor and tells the moving story of a homeless high school track star.
This marks another major step for Seehorn as she expands her acting roles on the streaming platform following the massive success of her latest television show. The company shared the casting news on social media to build excitement for the original film.
The upcoming movie explores the difficult life of a homeless runner
The story focuses on a young running prodigy who lives on the streets without any support. The teen uses his natural athletic talent to escape a tough past and find a real sense of family. Spike Fearn takes the lead role as the young athlete trying to build a better life. The director wanted to explore a character who finds purpose through running.
Brian Tyree Henry also stars in the new movie. This is his third time working directly with the streaming platform after his success in Causeway and Dope Thief. Bill Dubuque wrote the script for Running, teaming up again with O’Connor after their previous work together on The Accountant 2.
Seehorn brings plenty of star power to the growing cast. She currently plays the lead character Carol in the hit show Pluribus, which has become one of the most-watched titles on the service. Fans are already eagerly waiting for the next season of her popular series. Before joining this platform, she gained a massive fan base for playing Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul.
Apple has not announced an official release date for the movie yet. The studio is still in the early stages of putting the project together. When it does come out, viewers will need a standard subscription to watch the film.
