Finding a specific post inside a channel is about to get much easier. After a wait of nearly a year and a half, the popular messaging app is rolling out a dedicated search tool for its broadcast feature on iOS. Until now, discovering an old update meant scrolling back manually through endless messages. The new change fixes this problem and works exactly like the regular chat search you already use every day.
Users can locate older channel updates using simple text keywords
You can find the new search option by opening any channel you follow. Just tap the channel name at the top of the screen to open its info page, and you will see a search button. When you tap it, you can type a keyword or phrase. The app will highlight matching updates instantly as you type. You can then use the up and down arrow buttons to jump between the results.
This update is a huge time saver for people who follow highly active accounts. Whether you want to find an old news article or a specific announcement, you no longer have to dig through a mountain of past posts. The search feature is included in the latest WhatsApp version 26.24.72. The update is currently available to download from the App Store.
The rollout is happening in stages, so it might take a few days before it reaches your iPhone device. This new capability joins a growing list of recent improvements from the platform, keeping the app fresh for Apple users.
Along with adding a channel search tool, WhatsApp brings back message animations on iPhone with a new toggle option to give users more control over their chat screens.
