  • Hey Kelly, it’s Reggie, you were asking about head units for CarPlay there are lots of head units that use CarPlay pioneer, etc. etc. as a matter fact just about every car on the market has a CarPlay option not just the real expensive ones and ask for CarPlay keys since the upgrade time for automobiles is roughly 5 to 7 years it will take some time Before you will see electronic keys on most cars it’s coming look at it this way Apple is not gonna start a project only to get turn down by their corporate partners it doesn’t work that way

For most automobile manufacturers it takes 5 to 7 years before they’re able to fully integrate options into their vehicles they usually start with the most expensive and work their way back so be patient it’s not gonna happen overnight we’re talking about an industry that’s over 100 years old here guys they don’t move as quick as computer companies. By the way I was one of the early adopters of CarPlay I first purchased a pioneer head unit back in 2013 and I’ve had it every sense it works well as CarPlay becomes more usable.

    1. Thanks Reggie! Every time I get a new iPhone, the car Bluetooth hates it in a new and different way.

I know adding new things to cars takes time, I don’t expect to get car keys on my phone tomorrow 🙂 But I do think it’s going slower than it could, and part of that is because I don’t think car makers quite get the tech side of it, which is why the infotainment setups out there now that seem reliable are the ones that have a parter (like Ford, who teamed with Microsoft to use that).

I’m glad to hear the head units work well, I had a nice Pioneer in my last car so maybe it’s time to shop for one again!
