iOS 27 adds a new Siri app with a chatbot-style design, and while it opens with Apple’s new Siri AI by default, users can switch to ChatGPT whenever they need a different response style or broader assistant support.
The Siri app includes a text box, support for image and file attachments, and a menu for older conversations, which makes it feel closer to a full AI chat app rather than the old voice-first Siri experience.
How to Switch From Siri AI to ChatGPT
To use ChatGPT inside the Siri app, long-press the input field and tap Ask… from the menu that appears. The app then shows a pop-up where you can choose between Siri and ChatGPT.
Right now, only Siri and ChatGPT appear as options, although Apple may add more chatbot providers later.
There are some limits users should know before switching. ChatGPT cannot read the messages you already sent to Siri, and Siri cannot access the part of the chat handled by ChatGPT.
The app also switches back to Siri after closing and reopening, even if ChatGPT was selected earlier. For now, iOS 27 does not offer a permanent ChatGPT default setting inside the Siri app.
