Apple’s September 9 event came and went without a home hub, a HomePod mini refresh or a new HomePod. The keynote covered iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, and new Health features, and Apple’s Newsroom has no press release for any home product.
That outcome matched our pre-event expectations, but not the volume of reporting. In the weeks before the keynote, MacRumors and Bloomberg described a home hub in some detail, and a HomePod mini update alongside it. Apple has announced neither.

Here is what pre-event reporting said about Apple’s home lineup. Every item below is a report or rumor, and Apple has not confirmed any of it.

- Home hub: a 7-inch display with a camera and presence sensors, according to MacRumors and Bloomberg
- Home hub timing: said to be waiting on Apple’s revamped Siri
- HomePod mini: a refresh with a faster chip
- Apple TV 4K: code found by leakers pointed to an A19 or A19 Pro chip, as The Mac Observer reported
None of these appeared on stage, and none has a press release, a price or a date.
Why Siri is the detail to watch
The reports tied the home hub to Apple’s revamped Siri. Apple’s own announcement puts Siri AI in beta in English with iOS 27 on Monday, September 14, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish following in October.
Apple has not connected Siri AI to any home product, and it has not said whether the beta status of Siri AI affects when a hub could ship. The link between the two exists only in the reporting.
Apple Intelligence runs on-device and with Private Cloud Compute, according to Apple’s release, and hands-free Siri AI on AirPods 5 needs iOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence iPhone. Apple has not said what a home device would need.
What happens next for Apple’s home lineup
Apple has confirmed only software dates. iOS 27 and watchOS 27 arrive September 14 as free updates, and 9to5Mac reports that tvOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27 are expected the same day.
For hardware, the position is unchanged from before the event: a home hub, a HomePod mini refresh and an A19 Apple TV 4K are all reports, and Apple has not announced any of them, given them a price or given them a date.
