AT&T iPhone 18 Pro Offer: Apple Lists Up to $1,200 Trade-In Credit Over 36 Months

Apple’s Store page for iPhone 18 Pro lists exactly one AT&T launch term: up to $1,200 for an eligible trade-in in any condition, paid as monthly bill credits over 36 months. That line is the whole of what Apple publishes about the offer, and Apple adds that the amount varies by plan tier and customer type.

iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB, pre-orders open Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PT, and the phone reaches stores on Friday, September 18. AT&T’s newsroom has not published an iPhone 18 Pro launch release, so everything below that is not Apple’s own wording is framed as a question to put to the carrier rather than a confirmed term.

What Apple’s Store page says about the AT&T offer

The wording Apple shows for AT&T is “Up to $1200 for an eligible trade-in in any condition.” Apple states that the credit is applied as monthly bill credits over 36 months, that it requires an eligible smartphone trade-in on a qualifying plan, and that amounts vary by plan tier and customer type, with existing customers, add-a-line and new customers listed as the categories.

Apple’s press release uses a shorter form of the same claim: carrier trade-in deals provide up to $1,200 credit. The release attaches that figure to an iPhone 14 or later, while Apple’s own trade-in credit of $175 to $885 applies to an iPhone 13 or later. Our breakdown of the iPhone 18 Pro price and its $100 increase covers the up-front side of that math.

Apple also notes on the same page that setting your carrier choice in advance lets you speed through checkout when pre-orders start at 5:00 a.m. PT on 9.12. That is worth doing whichever route you pick.

Why bill credits over 36 months are not $1,200 off

A credit of this shape does not reduce the sticker price. You finance the phone at full price, then receive credits each month, so the advertised value only lands in full if the line stays in place for all 36 months.

Apple does not say what happens to the remaining credits if you leave AT&T, move to a cheaper plan tier or pay the device off early. That is the single most important term to confirm before you order.

Six things to check with AT&T before Saturday

  • Which plan tiers reach the full $1,200, since Apple says the amount varies by tier.
  • Whether the top credit is for new customers or an added line rather than a straight upgrade on an existing line.
  • What your specific phone is worth in AT&T’s system, because “any condition” is not the same as any value.
  • What happens to unpaid credits if you cancel, downgrade the plan or settle the device balance early.
  • Whether the same credit covers iPhone 18 Pro Max and the 512GB, 1TB and 2TB tiers, or only the entry model.
  • Whether the carrier unit matches Apple’s: US iPhone 18 Pro models ship without a SIM tray, and Apple’s C2 modem carries mmWave 5G in the US.

What Apple has not said

Apple does not publish AT&T’s plan names, its credit schedule or its per-device trade-in values. Apple’s own per-model estimates sit behind an interactive estimator rather than a published table, which is why the release quotes only the $175 to $885 range.

Nothing about AT&T offers on Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4, AirPods 5 or iPhone Duo appears on Apple’s pages either, and Apple does not restate the offer on the pages for those products.

Pre-orders open at 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12, with delivery and in-store stock from Friday, September 18. If AT&T publishes launch terms of its own, they will name the plans and the credit schedule that Apple’s one-line summary leaves out. Until then the honest comparison is Apple’s stated credit against whatever AT&T quotes for your exact phone and plan, and our full iPhone 18 Pro launch coverage plus the Pro versus Pro Max comparison will tell you which model to point that quote at.
