Apple announced two new iPhones on September 9: the iPhone 18 Pro, from $1,199 and shipping September 18, and the iPhone Duo, its first foldable, which according to the keynote starts at about $2,000 and arrives in October.
For anyone ready to buy a flagship this fall, that is an $800 gap and roughly a month’s wait. Apple has not published a press release for iPhone Duo, so several details remain unconfirmed, but there is enough on the table to frame the decision.

It also costs $800 less at the base tier than the Duo’s keynote price, and it ships in nine days. Every accessory Apple announced, including the updated Clear Case, silicone case, FineWoven case and wrist strap, is for the Pro.
The case for waiting for iPhone Duo

Who should not wait
Anyone buying on a monthly plan should note that Apple’s $49.95 a month figure applies to iPhone 18 Pro only; Apple has not announced monthly pricing for the Duo.
