Apple’s first foldable iPhone is official, and it is called iPhone Duo. According to the keynote at today’s “Surprise and shine” event, it runs the A20 Pro chip, comes in White and Dark Blue, starts at about $2,000 and arrives in October.

Apple has not yet published a press release for the iPhone Duo, so unlike the iPhone 18 Pro, the details below come from keynote coverage rather than a spec sheet. Much of what we gathered in our pre-keynote iPhone Duo preview remains unconfirmed.

What Apple confirmed on stage

  • Name: iPhone Duo, not iPhone Ultra
  • Chip: A20 Pro, the same 2-nanometer chip as the iPhone 18 Pro
  • Colors: White and Dark Blue
  • Price: about $2,000 to start
  • Availability: October

In the iPhone 18 Pro, the A20 Pro pairs a 6-core CPU with a 7-core GPU up to 40 percent faster than the A19 Pro and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple has not said whether the Duo uses the same configuration.

What is still pre-event rumor

Pre-event reporting described a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display, a Touch ID side button in place of Face ID, and Apple Pencil support. None of these has been confirmed by Apple, and until a press release appears they should be treated as reports rather than facts.

iPhone Duo price vs iPhone 18 Pro

At about $2,000, the iPhone Duo sits roughly $800 above the $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro and about $700 above the $1,299 iPhone 18 Pro Max. Our iPhone Duo price rumor round-up shows how that figure compares with the estimates that circulated before the event.

Apple has not said what storage the $2,000 figure buys, whether monthly pricing will be offered, or how prices will translate outside the US.

The iPhone 18 Pro goes up for pre-order on Saturday, September 12, and ships on September 18, while the iPhone Duo waits until October with no pre-order date yet. We will update this story when Apple publishes full details; until then, our Apple event live blog has the keynote as it happened.
