Apple’s UK store finances iPhone Duo over 30 months at 0 percent APR, from £66.63 a month against a £1,999 list price. The 30 payments add up to £1,998.90, which is the whole point: the term changes your cash flow on day one and changes nothing at all about what the phone costs.
That is worth stating plainly because 30 months is longer than the US term and the monthly figure is correspondingly smaller, which makes the UK deal look better than it is. It is the same £1,999 iPhone Duo, paid for more slowly.

The arithmetic, and why no discount is hidden in it

Interest-free means interest-free, and it also means there is no discount. If you were hoping the monthly route shaved something off the total, it does not. What it does is let you buy the 1TB iPhone Duo for £86.63 a month rather than finding £2,599 on 16 October.

Canada is the useful contrast. Apple’s own representative example there adds C$93.79 to a C$1,099 purchase over 24 months, which is what an interest rate does to a bill. The UK figures add nothing.
What UK buyers do not get
- The Apple Upgrade lease. Apple’s Klarna-run lease, which starts at $57.99 a month for the Duo, is for US residents only. There is no UK equivalent published.
- AppleCare in the price. None of these routes includes cover. Apple has published AppleCare One at $19.99 a month in the US and has published no AppleCare+ price for iPhone Duo in any market.
- A published trade-in figure. The $175 to $885 range Apple quotes is a US figure. Apple has not published sterling trade-in values, and its trade-in page is a questionnaire rather than a price list.
- A tourist VAT refund. The UK’s retail export scheme ended on 1 January 2021, so a visitor buying in London pays the full £1,999 with nothing to reclaim at the airport.
The comparison the sticker prices get wrong
A £1,999 UK price next to a $1,999 US price looks like a like-for-like match, and it is not. UK list prices are quoted with VAT included, while US list prices exclude sales tax, which is added at checkout and varies by state.
So the American figure is the one that grows before you pay it. Any cross-border comparison that skips this, including comparisons of iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max prices, overstates how much cheaper the US actually is.
What has not been confirmed
Apple has not published UK trade-in values in sterling, the eligibility rules for its UK finance on the Duo store page, an AppleCare+ price for iPhone Duo, or repair pricing for the folding display. No UK carrier has published a Duo offer.
UK pre-orders open at 1:00 pm on Friday, 16 October, with deliveries from Friday, 23 October. The decision to make before then is whether you want the cash flow or the clean purchase, because nothing Apple announced on 9 September changes the total either way.
