An iPhone 16 Pro owner looking at iPhone Duo is weighing a 199 g titanium phone with a 6.3-inch display, a 5x telephoto and 27 hours of video playback against a 254 g titanium foldable with 7.6-inch and 5.4-inch displays, no telephoto and 44 hours closed. The gap is $1,000 against the 16 Pro’s $999 launch price, and Apple’s Trade In page values the 16 Pro at up to $510, so a 256GB Duo nets out at $1,489 for an owner who gets the full estimate.
The 16 Pro was the last small Pro with a titanium frame; the 17 Pro and 18 Pro moved to an aluminum unibody, and the Duo brings Grade 5 titanium back. All figures come from Apple’s tech specs, Store pages and press release. Apple no longer sells the 16 Pro.

The 16 Pro’s 6.3-inch OLED runs at 2622 x 1206 and 460 ppi with ProMotion up to 120Hz, 1000 nits typical, 1600 peak HDR and 2000 outdoors. The Duo’s 5.4-inch outer display is 1398 x 2034 at 460 ppi and its 7.6-inch inner display is 1878 x 2670 at 430 ppi; both are ProMotion, Always-On and rated at 1000, 1600 and 3000 nits, so the Duo is 1000 nits brighter outdoors on Apple’s figures. The inner panel has a nano-texture finish that Apple says minimizes the crease.
Cameras: 5x telephoto vs 2x crop
The 16 Pro has a 48MP Fusion main at 24 mm and f/1.78, a 48MP Ultra Wide at 13 mm and f/2.2, a 12MP 2x crop at 48 mm and a 12MP 5x tetraprism telephoto at 120 mm and f/2.8. The Duo keeps a 48MP main, now at 26 mm and f/1.6 with sensor-shift OIS, and the same 48MP Ultra Wide, but its longest reach is a 12MP 2x crop at 52 mm with digital zoom to 10x.
| Camera | iPhone Duo | iPhone 16 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Main | 48MP, 26 mm, f/1.6, sensor-shift OIS | 48MP, 24 mm, f/1.78 |
| Ultra Wide | 48MP, 13 mm, f/2.2 | 48MP, 13 mm, f/2.2 |
| Telephoto | 12MP 2x crop, 52 mm, f/1.6 | 12MP 5x, 120 mm, f/2.8; 12MP 2x crop at 48 mm |
| Optical zoom steps | 0.5x, 1x, 2x | 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x |
| Front | 12MP Center Stage f/2.2 outer; under-display f/1.8 inner | 12MP TrueDepth, f/1.9 |
| Video | 4K Dolby Vision up to 120 fps; Dual Capture 4K 30 | 4K Dolby Vision up to 120 fps |
If the 5x lens is why you bought a 16 Pro, the Duo is a step backward in reach. What it offers instead are the outer-display features Smart Take, Duo Preview, Kid Cue and Duo FaceTime, a Camera Control button with a Siri Camera mode, and Photographic Styles 3 with texture and grain controls.
Battery, charging, chip and software
Apple rates the 16 Pro at up to 27 hours of video playback, 22 streamed and 85 of audio. The Duo is rated at 44 hours of video and 37 streamed on the outer display, 31 and 26 on the inner display, and up to 24 hours of typical use. The 16 Pro charges to 50 percent in about 30 minutes, with MagSafe at 25W using a 30W adapter and Qi2 at 15W; the Duo reaches 50 percent in about 20 minutes with a 60W adapter and takes MagSafe and Qi2 at 25W. Both have USB 3 at 10 Gb/s and Wi-Fi 7; the Duo adds DisplayPort, Bluetooth 6 in place of 5.3, Thread, the C2 modem and two years of satellite features.
Apple only publishes A20 Pro comparisons against the A19 Pro, not the A18 Pro: up to 20 percent faster CPU, 40 percent faster GPU, 50 percent more memory bandwidth and twice the Neural Engine compute. Software is not the deciding factor, because the 16 Pro is on Apple’s list for full Apple Intelligence and gets the Siri AI beta with iOS 27 on September 14. The Duo ships with iOS 27.1 and adds Split View, posable layouts and Apple Pencil (USB-C) support later in 2026.
The other path: iPhone 18 Pro
A 16 Pro owner who wants a telephoto has a cheaper move. The iPhone 18 Pro keeps the 6.3-inch size at 211 g, adds the variable-aperture main camera, a 48MP 4x telephoto with 8x optical-quality zoom and 36 hours of video playback, and costs $1,199.

What Apple has not said
- Any direct A20 Pro vs A18 Pro performance figure
- The Duo’s RAM, battery capacity in mAh, or a hinge cycle rating
- Whether the Duo records ProRes or Log video; the spec page does not list either
- A trade-in promotion for 16 Pro owners beyond the ‘up to’ $510 estimate, which depends on condition
